Have you ever wondered what stress and weight loss has to do with each other? For me they have a great deal to do with each other. When I am under stress, I go right for the junk food machine or the potato chip bag. How much weight I lose is directly dependent on how well I deal with my stress.

Here are some of the methods I have started using to relieve stress. These things may not always get rid of the stress, but they will get your mind off of what is bother me and as long as I can do that, I may not feel the need to eat junk food to get passed the stressful issue.

• Do deep breathing exercises for five minutes
• Take 5 minutes to reflect on the positive things in your life
• Look at a picture that reminds of a time that you were having fun
• Read something that you enjoy
• Work on a small craft project

These are a few of things that work for me. I find that if I can spend 5-10 minutes doing something that makes me feel good, that is enough time to get past the urge of wanting stuff my face. If it still persists, I try to have something in my hands that I don’t want to get food on.

Learning how to get past the stress in your life will help you feel better and will help you to make healthier choices.
