Credit cards are almost a necessary item in today’s society, but they can be the source of big problems. Balance transfers and 0% credit cards are both things that can save you money and help you get out of debt, but only if you are disciplined enough to be able to handle them properly.
I have seen people transfer balances to a new credit card with an introductory rate and within months they have balances on both credit cards. If you are not disciplined when it comes to spending money, available credit may be a big temptation. A balance transfer can be a way out of debt or something that will keep you in debt longer. The choice is yours.
When you take your inventory, don’t forget your assets…Carol K.
Part of taking a good inventory is identifying our strengths. When we concentrate only on our defects and weaknesses, we shortchange ourselves and everyone around us. All of us have assets, and taking inventory is a good time to get in touch with them.
We need to identify the things we do well. The things we have done for others, the care we have given. We need to give ourselves credit for our healthier bodies, our clearer minds and our new spiritual awareness. We can let ourselves feel good about these things. They are now part of us, part of who we are. And when our inventory is really complete, we can share these positive attributes with God, ourselves, and another human being.
There is so much we can learn and much we can give ourselves by acknowledging our strengths, our assets and our goodness. These good things are the foundation for much growth in recovery, and we can enjoy their rewards today.
Today let me remember the good things in me.

I am fortunate in the respect that I did what a lot of home buyers did in my area. I bought a house with no money down and a two for one buy down mortgage. These mortgages were very popular at the time and many people in my area took advantage of them at the time. Although our house payment did go up over the first three years, we were approved for $400 more a month than our final payment was going to be. Many people, who took this same option, were not able to make the increased payment and are now finding themselves in default. If you are considering buying a home, be sure you compare mortgages and check out buy to let mortgages.
I have done this many times before, but I am going to do it again. And that is to lay out a plan for reaching a goal. The Twelve Step program has taught me to keep coming back. Hopefully, this will work the same way. I have mentioned my personal trainer. She has recommended I go to the gym 3 times a week. She does have a point, because I can find all kinds reasons not to exercise while I am at home. Once you get to the gym, there really isn’t much else you can do but exercise. I was there Thursday and I am going to try to make it today. Then I will just to need to get one more day in before Thursday.
My eating is the next thing I will be addressing. I really struggle with being able to eat in at work. I can take a lunch with me and still find an excuse to go out and eat. I am going to try to plan out what I am going to each day and stick to the plan. If I can do it this, it will be something new for me. It seems easy enough, but with somebody that behaves as compulsively as I do this will be an accomplishment for me. I would be happy if I could just cut out the sugar. The rest of my eating is actually relatively healthy.
