Children can sometimes be a major challenge. While I have the best 16 year old around, there are still times he tries my patience. We are going out of town tomorrow and I don’t like to come home to a lot of clutter and disorganization.

I asked my son to take some laundry upstairs, about 3 days ago and I have asked him every day since then and I just went downstairs and the laundry is still at the same place it was 3 days ago.

This morning at 5:30AM, my son cooked something for a school project. Before I left for work, I let him know that I wanted everything cleaned up after school. I see that all that is the way it was left this morning. It is now midnight, so I will be left with all that to deal with before I leave tomorrow.

When we are at peace with ourselves, our Higher Power, and the world, joy follows. There is joy in welcoming another sunrise or sunset. There is joy in a phone call from a friend, in going to a meeting, in telling someone “I love you.” Nothing fancy, elaborate or grand; just simple “peace and joy.” How wonderful to have them, even if only for a few minutes, hours, or a days. Sobriety has a wonderful way of helping these things happen.

Today may I find peace and joy in my recovery, may I share them and wish them for others.

This day isn’t getting any better, but it is the only one I have so I have to live it. I still need to get that exercise in, but I think I need a nap first. This is going to be a busy evening, because we will going out of town tomorrow. I have laundry to do and last minute cleaning.

The past few days I have had problems do the nest right thing. It is not coming easy. I have eaten some things I would have been better off without and have not exercised. I am going to have to try to get outside an walk today, since it is going to be in the high 60s. This something that is not normal for the 3 week of November in Ohio. I think I will feel a little better about eating correctly, it I can get that walk out of the way.
