Once on the road to recovery many of us tend to switch addictions. This is particularly difficult to understand when we have finally achieved sobriety from our drug of choice.

We’ve worked hard to give one compulsions only to find ourselves eating more, being drawn to gambling, or seeking out anonymous sexual encounters to fill our needs.

Numbing our inner pain can take many forms. In recovery we have learned to be vigilant about new compulsive behaviors. Arresting one addiction only to start another is not recovery. Changing our life is.

Going to meetings, getting a sponsor, communing daily with our Higher Power, sharing with others, and getting professional counseling when needed are all signs of a healthy, focused recovery. When we take care of ourselves, we can avoid switching to another drug. We can truly be sober and free.

Today help me abstain from all substances and behaviors that can trigger the addictive process.

Well tomorrow is my night to meet with my personal trainer and I am not ready. I have not really done any of the things she has asked me to do. I exercise more, but not enough. I guess I should be grateful for that, but since I am all or nothing person, I struggle when I don’t achieve near perfection. Why do I have such a hard time forgiving myself and accepting myself for who I am. This has not been one of my better weeks as far as that goes.

Rawdon, November 30, 2007 – Mother Nature has been busy during the past week, covering the Lanaudière landscape with an average of 45 cm (18 inches) of snow and more in the northern part of the region. Snowmobile enthusiasts can now start their engines for a new season with 350 kilometres (161 miles) of trails open in northern Lanaudière.

These are the areas that are currently accessible, where conditions are good with new snow coverage:

• Mont-Tremblant National Park (start at Pimbina entrance)
• Certain areas in Saint-Zénon
• Certain areas in Saint-Michel-des-Saints

I feel a little overwhelmed today. I have a plan as to where I want go with my next project. I am starting to see a few results that I like the looks of and I am having a hard time concentrating other things that need my time. I have been doing a lot of reading and I am learning a lot. This project is going to take about three months to see the effects and being an instant gratification person, I want it now. I am just going to have to keep working and tracking my results.
