Do you have a Summer Weight Loss Plan?
A summer weight loss plan is the way to go. For me the summer is the easiest time to lose weight and the reasons are obvious. Living in the Midwest, there are about 3 months out of the year where I am really do not exercise out doors. And honestly, I have a hard time exercising if I cannot do it outside.
My summer weight loss plan is all about exercising outside. Mostly, I walk and bike ride. These are my favorite, but I also enjoy water exercises. This year I have not done much of that, because I do not have a pool membership. To me being outside is what it is all about. I like to walk or ride in one of the many parks that are in my city. Being in the park allows me to not only see the beauty in my life, but it shows me the beauty in the things around me.
As far as my food plan, I am not sticking to anything strict. I eating healthy about 80 percent of the time and this is allowing me to lose an average of 1 to 2 pounds per week. For me, healthy means limiting my sugar and carb intake. There are certain things that I really enjoy, but they are not in my best interest. I limit these foods as much as possible, but do not eliminate them.
I am highly affected by the sugar spike in blood levels that are trigger by sugar and carbs. I use meal replacement shakes from time to time to avoid cravings, because they are high in protein and usually do not contain carbs. But I do not follow a strict meal replacement food plan.I try to mix it up. I eat as much protein as I can and try to eat vegetables, because I know they are good for me and not because I like them. But this will not work for everyone, some people need more structure.
Medifast, Nutrisystem and Jenny Craig are good for structure. You buy your food by the week or month and follow the plan as instructed. The food in these programs are easy to prepare and easily portable. There are many thousands of people that have lost weight on these diets.
Your summer weight loss plan should consist of 3 things.
1. A food plan-this can be something as simple as writing down what you are putting in your mouth and making small changes or something very structured, such as; one the plans listed above.
2. An exercise plan-choose something you like rather than what you think you should do. You are more likely to stick with it that way. Start with aerobics to burn calories, but you should soon add a strength training plan.
3. Work on your head-there are a number of workbooks available that will help you look at why you may have gained the weight in the first place. Many people are addicted to food, but are in denial. Taking a look at the causes for your weight gain will do wonders for helping you keep the weight off.
